Untethered Re-Cording mode was introduced in Version 12 of the Twiddler Firmware. In this mode, the Twiddler can run hostless and will record every HID code to an on-board data file. It acts as a Datalogger.

When recording, the Twiddler saves the keystrokes in a .log file on the Twiddler. The naming corresponds to the config file you were using at the time. Example: You are using 1.cfg and start Untethered Mode. The datafile will be 1.log.

To retrieve the recorded data:

1. Connect to a host
2. Make sure you are using the config file you used to record the data
3. Open a notepad or word processor on your host
4. press the chord to playback the data on your host

The Twiddler will play back the data as quickly as the connection supports.

There are utilities available, like Trout for Linux, that will directly read and parse the datafile from the command line.

You MUST exit untethered mode before the device times out. Failure to do so will cause loss of data and may corrupt the FAT file system.
