 +//**Feature still under development**//
 +
+Untethered Re-Chording mode was introduced in [[twiddler_firmware|Version 12]] of the Twiddler Firmware.  In this mode, the Twiddler can run hostless and will record every HID code to an on-board data file. It acts as a Datalogger.
 +
+Use tuner to enable this mode and assign its functions to your preferred key chord.
 +
+When recording, the Twiddler saves the keystrokes, in HID format, in a .log file on the Twiddler.  The naming corresponds to the config file you were using at the time.  Example:  You are using 1.cfg and start Untethered Mode.  The datafile will be 1.log.
 +
 +To retrieve the recorded data:
 +  - Connect to a host
+  - Make sure you are using the config file you used to record the data
+  - Open a notepad or word processor on your host
+  - press the chord to playback the data on your host
 +
+The Twiddler will play back the data as quickly as the connection supports.
 +
+There are utilities available, like [[https://github.com/CoohLand/Trout|Trout]] for Linux, that will directly read and parse the datafile from the command line.

-To enter untethered mode, just type [[chordnotation|T14F3M]].  Everything typed from this point forward will be logged to a file on the Twiddler's [[flashdisk|Flash Disk]].  To exit untethered mode, use the same chord [[chordnotation|T14F3M]].  **You MUST exit untethered mode before turning the power switch off to ensure the most recently typed data is saved and the flash disk is handled gracefully.** Failure to do so will cause loss of data and may corrupt the FAT file system.

-To retrieve the data, just connect the Twiddler to a host, open a word processor or other text entry program and type [[chordnotation|T14F4M]].  The Twiddler will then begin to stream the contents of the datafile to your host as a stream of HID codes.
